Claude connects straight to your Shopify store. Once it's linked, you can add products, spin up discount codes, pull orders and customer details, and get real analysis of how the store is performing, all by typing in plain English. It's the closest thing to having a business partner for your shop.
What This Unlocks
Running a store means living in a dozen dashboards, digging for numbers, and doing the same little tasks over and over. Connecting Shopify to Claude collapses a lot of that into a conversation. You ask, it looks at your real store data, and it answers, or it goes and does the thing.
Once your store is linked, Claude can add products, create discount codes, browse recent orders, view customer details, and pull real analytics. Then you can ask it actual business questions, like where you're losing sales, and it answers from your numbers instead of generic advice.
What you need: Claude, and a Shopify store you own or manage. The connector is free to add. It works on Claude Free (one custom connector), Pro, and Max. A paid plan just lets you keep more connectors linked at once.
Connect Your Store
This is the 30-second part, and it's one-time setup.
1. Open your connectors. In Claude, on the left, choose Customize, then Connectors. Click Add, then Browse connectors.
2. Add Shopify. Search for Shopify and click Connect.
3. Log in and pick your store. Log into Shopify when it prompts you, choose which store to connect, and approve access. Your store is now linked.
If it won't connect: On Claude Free you only get one custom connector, so if the Add button is greyed out, remove your existing one or upgrade, then try again. If you run more than one store, Claude will ask which to connect. To switch later, reconnect and pick the other one, or just say "switch to my other Shopify store."
Tip: Say "using Shopify" in your prompts, or mention your store by name, so Claude reaches for your real store data instead of answering generically.
What Claude Can Do With Your Store
Manage products. Add new products, update details, prices, and descriptions, organize collections.
Create discounts. Spin up percentage discount codes for a sale or a campaign.
Review orders. Pull recent orders and spot refunds, big orders, and repeat buyers.
See customers. Look up customer details and find your best, highest-spending buyers.
Pull analytics. Sales, orders, and product performance over any period, explained in plain English.
Get real advice. Analysis and growth ideas based on your numbers, not generic tips.
Plenty of tools give you a dashboard. The difference here is that Claude reads your actual store data and reasons about it. "Why did sales dip last week?" gets an answer grounded in your real orders.
The Prompts To Actually Use It
Start with the one from the video, then keep going. Everything here works once your store is connected.
Grow my sales (the video prompt)
Based on my store's recent performance, find five ways I can increase my conversion rate that'll lead to more sales and total revenue. Use my real data and be specific to my store.
Read my numbers
Pull my sales for the last 30 days versus the previous 30. What's up, what's down, and what's the most likely reason for each change?
Find my best customers
Show me my top 10 customers by total spend, what they've bought, and how I could bring them back for a repeat purchase.
Spot-check my orders
Show me my last 20 orders and flag anything worth a look: refunds, unusually large orders, or repeat buyers.
Power Moves
Once you're comfortable, this is where it starts feeling like a real business partner.
Add a product without touching the dashboard
Add a new product to my store: [NAME], price [$X], in [COLLECTION]. Write me a strong product description for it and show me everything before you publish it.
Launch a discount for a sale
Create a 15% off code called [CODE] that runs from [DATE] to [DATE]. Show me the details to confirm before you create it.
A weekly report that runs itself. Set this up as a scheduled task so it lands in your inbox every week without you asking.
Every Monday at 8am, pull last week's sales, orders, top products, and any refunds, compare to the week before, and give me a short report with one thing to focus on this week.
Tip: Ask it to write, too. "Write better descriptions for my 10 worst-selling products" or "draft a launch email for this new product" both use your real store data as the starting point.
Use The Write Actions Safely
This connector doesn't just read your store, it can change it: create products, publish discount codes, update details. That's the power, and it's also why you want to stay in the driver's seat.
Get in the habit of asking Claude to "show me before you publish" or "confirm with me first," especially for anything involving money or anything customers will see. A discount code is real dollars off, and a product goes live to shoppers.
Start by asking for reads (analytics, orders, customers) until you trust the outputs, then move to writes. Double-check discount codes, the percentage, the code, and the expiry, before they go live. For big or bulk changes, have Claude list exactly what it's about to do and approve it. And if you share a store with a team, agree on who's letting Claude make changes.
The One-Page Cheat Sheet
1. Connect. Claude: Customize, Connectors, Add, Browse, Shopify, Connect.
2. Pick your store. Log into Shopify and choose the store to link.
3. Ask your numbers. "Pull my last 30 days of sales vs the prior 30, what changed and why?"
4. Grow. "Find 5 ways to raise my conversion rate, based on my real data."
5. Do. Add products, create discounts, always "show me before you publish."
6. Automate. Set the weekly report as a scheduled task.
The rules that keep it working: say "using Shopify" so it pulls real data, ask it to show you before it publishes anything, double-check discount codes, start with reads then move to writes, and ask business questions rather than only tasks. "Where am I losing sales?" is where it really earns its keep.
