The plan · 5 steps
- 1Check which features your account can use.
- 2Connect your credit score and try ChatGPT in Word.
- 3Give your dot one useful ongoing job.
- 4Build a shared Space and make your sticker pack.
- 5Check the results and keep the setups that help you.
Before you start
Your account
Sign in to ChatGPT and update the mobile app. Access varies by plan, location and workspace.
Your materials
Have a simple Word document, notes for a shared project and a clear selfie ready.
Your first goal
Pick one useful result. You can work through the other features later.
You don't have to set up everything at once. Start with the feature that solves something you already do.
Check access before you get stuck
Finances: US users on Free, Go, Plus and Pro, on web, iOS and Android. The credit score part is rolling out to Plus and Pro in the US, and it connects through Experian.
Word: Available across ChatGPT plans, including Free. Usage limits and organization controls still apply.
Dots: Gradual rollout. Eligible personal plans are Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 for adults outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Business Premium and Enterprise have separate workspace access rules. Enterprise admins must enable dots.
Space: Pro, Business and Enterprise accounts, on the web and the desktop app (read-only on mobile). Sharing options depend on your workspace and permissions.
Stickers: Available globally to ChatGPT users on mobile. Update the app first.
Maverick's tip
These are recent features and updates, not five features that all launched in the same month. This is the October 2026 setup guide.
Copy This First: Your Setup Helper
Paste this into ChatGPT if you want help choosing where to start. It helps you make a plan. It cannot unlock a feature your account doesn't have.
Help me set up the five ChatGPT features from this guide: credit score in Finances, ChatGPT for Microsoft Word, a dot, ChatGPT Space and personalized sticker packs. First ask which device I use, my country, my ChatGPT plan and which feature I want to try first. Do not ask for passwords, verification codes, account numbers or my Social Security number. For my chosen feature, use current official instructions and any interface I share with you. Give me one setup step at a time. If you cannot see my screen, say so and ask what controls I see instead of inventing a menu. Help me complete one small useful example. Separate what is ready, what still needs a connection or permission, and what my account may not have. Never claim something is connected, shared, scheduled or installed without confirmation from the product.
Make the first result small
For Word, try one paragraph. For your dot, choose one page to watch. For Space, start with a short plan. For stickers, begin with six expressions.
If a setup screen asks you to sign in or verify your identity, complete that step in the official product's form. Then come back to the conversation.
Know when you're done
A useful setup ends with a result you can inspect: a dated credit report, an edited paragraph, a confirmed monitoring job, a page your collaborator can open, or a sticker you can use in your messaging app.
Connect Your Credit Score
Open ChatGPT Finances. On the web, you can also use Explore > Finances in the left navigation. Under Get started, look for Connect your credit score. If the card isn't visible, ask in Finances: "Help me connect my credit score."
Complete verification and authorization in Experian's secure form, then return to ChatGPT. Enter identity details and verification codes in that form, never in chat. You don't need to connect a bank account first.
You'll get an Experian report and VantageScore 3.0, refreshed monthly. Connecting uses a soft inquiry. Credit monitoring can flag new inquiries, accounts or addresses. A lender may use a different score, and reported balances aren't live balances.
Want the full Finances setup, bank accounts included? My Finances guide walks through it.
Understand what you're looking at
Using my connected credit report, explain what is affecting my score in plain English. Start with the report date, score model and the information you can actually access. Show the three most useful things for me to review. For each, separate the reported fact from your interpretation, explain why it may matter and suggest a question or next step I can verify. Don't guess why a score changed or promise a specific point increase.
Your monthly check-in
Compare my latest credit report with the previous report if both are available. Show the dates and explain what changed, what stayed the same and anything I should check directly with the provider. If you cannot access an earlier report, say so. Finish with a short checklist for this month.
Maverick's tip
Monthly data refresh and a custom monthly briefing are different. If you want a scheduled briefing, request it separately and verify that the schedule was saved and enabled. My scheduled tasks guide shows how.
Put ChatGPT Inside Microsoft Word
Start with the official OpenAI add-in listing. Choose Get it now and follow installation. In Word, open ChatGPT from the ribbon, sign in and choose the intended workspace if asked.
Open a document and write your request in the sidebar. For a focused rewrite, select the text first. Your organization's Microsoft or ChatGPT administrator may need to enable access.
Rewrite one paragraph
Rewrite the selected paragraph for someone reading about this topic for the first time. Make it clear, warm and concise. Preserve every name, number, factual claim and commitment. Keep the meaning and remove unnecessary jargon. Tell me if any sentence is ambiguous before changing its meaning.
Turn notes into a useful draft
Use the notes in this document to draft a one-page project brief. Include the goal, audience, deliverables, timeline, responsibilities and open questions. Use only the information provided. Mark missing decisions as To confirm instead of inventing them. Keep the document easy to scan and preserve useful existing headings.
Review before you use it
Read the edited paragraph beside your original. Check names, dates, numbers and whether a softer sentence accidentally changed a promise. For example, "we aim to deliver Friday" should not become "we guarantee delivery Friday."
Complex formatting may need cleanup. Memory and chat history don't carry into the add-in, so include the tone and context it needs in your request.
Maverick's tip
Start with a copy of a document you can practice on. A small rewrite makes it easier to judge the result before asking for a full document revision.
Give Your Dot an Ongoing Job
Your dot is an agent with its own cloud computer. It can keep working between conversations, including when your devices are off. Access is still rolling out.
Set it up
Open dots in the ChatGPT mobile app, desktop app or a desktop browser and follow the introduction. Name it, customize its appearance and connect only the apps your first job needs. You can skip connections and add them later. Mobile web isn't supported.
If you already have a dot, open its existing conversation. Give it a clear responsibility rather than a broad request to "watch everything."
Copy this monitoring brief
Watch this public page for a specific change: [URL]. I care about [new event dates / registration opening / a price dropping below $X]. Check once each weekday at 9 a.m. in [time zone]. Start by confirming that you can access the page and show me the current state as a baseline. Notify me in ChatGPT only when the condition is met, something materially changes or a problem needs my attention. Include the source link, the time you checked and what changed. Do not buy, book, submit forms or contact anyone. Confirm the actual saved setup, next check and notification destination. If you cannot support this monitoring job, explain the limitation instead of saying it is active.
Cloud work and your own computer
Your dot can use its cloud computer independently. Work that needs your connected personal computer requires that computer to stay online with the ChatGPT app open. Connecting the computer is optional.
Maverick's tip
"Always on" does not mean every website can be monitored instantly. Set a realistic checking frequency and verify an actual run.
Make Your Dot Useful Without the Noise
A good monitoring request defines the source, the change you care about, the timing and when to interrupt you. "Keep me updated" leaves too much for the agent to decide.
Three jobs to try
| Job | What to define |
|---|---|
| Watch event registration | The official page, registration opening and check frequency. |
| Track a product price | Exact item, seller, target price and whether shipping matters. |
| Follow a project deadline | Approved project source, due date and what counts as a risk. |
These are example briefs, not a promise that every source or connected app supports background access. Ask your dot to establish access before relying on it.
Verify the job
Review the monitoring job we just set up. Show me its source, checking frequency, time zone, notification destination, next check and current status. Tell me whether it needs my own computer online. Run one check now if supported and report what you found with the source and time. If the job was only discussed but never saved, tell me clearly. Do not create a duplicate schedule.
Adjust or stop it
Change this monitoring job so it only notifies me when [specific condition]. Keep the existing source and schedule. Confirm the saved change. If you cannot change the active job, tell me what I need to do. Do not create a second job.
Before relying on phone alerts, check that ChatGPT notifications are allowed on your phone and review a real alert when the job runs. A message saying "I'll watch it" is not proof that delivery works.
To end the experiment, tell your dot to stop the named job and verify its status. Keep the name specific so you don't stop unrelated work.
Open Space in ChatGPT's left navigation. If you see the welcome screen, select Continue to Space. Start with a small project, such as a weekend plan, event checklist or team brief.
Create and organize
From All, open New > Space, name it and select Create. Add a page with New page, or ask ChatGPT to create a page in your named space. Add the notes and files you want it to use.
Create a page in [space name] called [project name]. Use these notes: [paste notes]. Organize it into the goal, confirmed decisions, tasks, owners, dates and open questions. Do not invent missing owners or deadlines. Keep source links. Tell me what you created and where it is saved.
Share deliberately
Open the page or space's sharing controls, add the intended people and choose the available access level. Use view for readers, comment for feedback where offered and edit for collaborators. Confirm that another person can open it.
Space access applies to its pages. Sharing a parent page also grants access to child pages. Review inherited access if you later remove someone.
Work with ChatGPT on the page
Review this shared project page. Preserve the confirmed decisions and only update the Open questions section. Identify missing details that could delay the project, then suggest the three questions we should answer next. Do not assign new commitments to anyone.
Sharing a page does not share your private chats or saved memory. Collaborators see content you put on the page. Linked files keep their original access rules.
Turn Your Selfie Into Stickers
Use the latest ChatGPT mobile app. Upload a clear photo of yourself and ask for a sticker pack, or use a sticker template from the home screen or Images.
Make the first pack
Turn this selfie into a matching cartoon sticker pack of me. Make six expressions: laughing, celebrating, facepalm, thank you, shocked and exhausted. Keep my hairstyle, facial features and overall appearance recognizable. Use a consistent illustration style, bold readable expressions and a clean sticker outline. Keep each pose distinct and avoid tiny details. Start without text so the expressions do the work.
Make it feel more like you
Keep the same character and visual style. Make the face look closer to my selfie, especially [specific feature]. Make the expressions easier to recognize at small size. Change only [the expression or sticker you want to revise].
Use it in a conversation
Review the pack, then download it or add it to iMessage or WhatsApp on supported devices. The options you see depend on your phone, so use whatever the app offers.
Before sharing, open one sticker at the size it will appear in a message. Can you recognize the expression immediately? If it looks busy, ask for a simpler version.
Maverick's tip
Start with a well-lit photo where your face isn't covered. A clear reference gives you a better starting point than a distant group shot.
Common Mistakes and Quick Fixes
| If this happens | Try this |
|---|---|
| A feature isn't visible | Check your plan, country, app version and workspace access before repeating setup. |
| Credit data looks unchanged | Check the report date. A monthly report isn't a live transaction feed. |
| Word changes too much | Select a smaller passage and name the facts and tone to preserve. |
| Your dot sends too many updates | Define the exact condition that deserves an alert. |
| Your dot says it will monitor | Ask for saved status, next check and one completed run. |
| A collaborator can't open a page | Check their account and the saved page/space permissions. |
| A sticker doesn't look like you | Name the specific visual difference and revise that part. |
Don't judge everything from the first answer
A useful follow-up tells ChatGPT what to preserve and what to change. "Make it better" is less helpful than "keep the facts, shorten the opening and make the next step clearer."
Keep the five setups separate
A connection in Finances does not establish a dot job. Installing the Word add-in does not provide your old chat context. Sharing a Space does not automatically make every linked file accessible to everyone.
Work through one feature at a time and check its actual result. If something fails, note the exact screen or error so you can ask a focused follow-up.
Quick Reference: Your Five-Feature Setup
| Feature | First action | Done looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Credit score | Finances > Connect your credit score. | A dated report you can explain. |
| Microsoft Word | Install the official OpenAI add-in. | One reviewed document edit. |
| Your dot | Give it one source and one clear condition. | A saved job and verified check. |
| Space | Create a space and add a project page. | A collaborator opens the right page. |
| Sticker packs | Upload a selfie in the mobile app. | A sticker works in your messaging app. |
Keep these details in your prompts
For documents: Audience, goal, tone and facts to preserve.
For monitoring: Source, trigger, frequency, time zone and notification destination.
For collaboration: Page, section, approved decisions and who needs access.
For images: Reference photo, style, expressions and one specific revision.
DO THIS TODAY: Pick one feature and finish one small example. Rewrite a paragraph, understand one credit factor, verify one dot check, share one useful page or make your first sticker. Review the result before moving on to the next setup.
