Clone Your Voice Inside Claude

A free 60-second setup with Fish Audio. Connect it to Claude, hand it a short recording of yourself, and Claude can read anything out loud in a voice that actually sounds like you, your newsletter, your scripts, your video voiceovers.

What You'll Need

This runs inside Claude Code, the version of Claude that can run commands and code for you. You point it at Fish Audio (a voice-cloning tool), give it a free API key, and hand it a short clip of your voice. From then on, Claude can generate speech that sounds like you.

Three things before you start: Claude Code open, a free Fish Audio account, and a clean 15-second recording of yourself talking. That is it. 15 seconds of your voice, about 2 minutes to set up, start to finish.

About "free" (read this)

Fish Audio's top S2.1 Pro model is free to use through the end of July 2026 under fair use. Even after that, Fish Audio keeps a standing free plan (around 8,000 credits a month, about 7 minutes of audio, with voice cloning), so you can keep making clips in smaller batches. If you are reading this later and S2.1 Pro is not free anymore, the steps are identical, you are just on the free plan or a paid one.

Heads up

Only clone your OWN voice, or a voice you have clear permission to use. Making a realistic clone of someone else without their consent is not okay and can be illegal. This guide is for cloning yourself.

First, teach Claude Code how to use Fish Audio. This is one line. It installs the Fish Audio "skill," so Claude writes the correct voice code instead of guessing.

1. Open Claude Code. In Claude, choose Code. This is the mode that can run commands, which is what makes the whole thing work.

2. Paste this line and hit Enter. Paste it into Claude Code at the bottom and press Enter.

The skill teaches Claude how to talk to Fish Audio. The API key is what actually lets it in, like a password for your account. It is free to create.

1. Open your Fish Audio account. Go to fish.audio and sign in (or make your free account if you have not yet).

2. Create a new API key. In your account, find the API Keys area. Click Create new API key, it is free. Give it any name, then copy the key it shows you.

3. Paste the key back into Claude. Go back to Claude Code and paste your API key in. Claude stores it so it can use Fish Audio from now on. Setup is done.

Tip: If Claude says the key is not working, paste it again with no extra spaces, and double check you copied the whole thing. Then ask Claude to "test the Fish Audio connection."

Now the fun part. Record about 15 seconds of yourself talking naturally, save it as an audio file, and hand it to Claude.

1. Record a clean 15-second sample. Talk normally, like you are telling a friend a quick story. Quiet room, no music, no background noise. Fifteen to thirty seconds of clear speech is the sweet spot. Save it (a voice memo works).

2. Upload it and say the magic words. Upload the clip to Claude Code, then type:

Clone my voice from this audio file using Fish Audio and save it as my default voice.

Your voice is cloned. Now put it to work. Paste in any text, or upload a document, and have Claude read it out loud in your voice.

1. Open Claude Code - in Claude, choose Code.

The rules that make it work

Use a clean, quiet 15 to 30 second sample, that is what makes or breaks the clone. Copy your API key right away (it may show once). S2.1 Pro is free through end of July 2026, then it is the free plan or paid. And only ever clone your own voice.
