Out of the box, Claude is a generalist. Skills turn it into a specialist. A skill is a free instruction pack that teaches Claude one job really well, like designing a website, writing without AI tells or running an SEO audit, and once it's installed Claude uses it automatically when that job comes up. Here are 29 free, open-source skills worth installing, grouped by what you do, with the exact install line or link for every one.
What Skills Actually Do
The plan · 4 steps
- 1Pick two or three skills that match your work.
- 2Install them with one of the three methods on the next page.
- 3Give Claude a real task the skill is built for.
- 4Add more once those earn their place.
Before you start
Your account
Any Claude plan can upload skills in the Claude app. The one-line installs and the coding skills need Claude Code, which comes with Pro and up.
Your materials
The install line or GitHub link under each skill.
Your first goal
One skill installed and used on a real task today.
Think of skills like apps on your phone. Your phone is useful out of the box, but the right apps make it way more powerful. Install a marketing skill and Claude becomes a marketing strategist. Install a design skill and it becomes a UI/UX pro. Install a video skill and it builds whole videos from one prompt.
Every skill here is free and open source. Two of them (Arcads and the Picsart CLI) connect to paid accounts, and they say so.
| If you mostly... | Start with |
|---|---|
| Write posts, emails or blogs | Blader Humanizer, Stop-Slop |
| Market a business | Marketing Skills, Claude SEO |
| Build websites or apps | UI/UX Pro Max, Frontend Design |
| Make videos and images | Remotion Video, Picsart GenAI CLI |
| Research or analyze data | Scientific Agent Skills, D3.js Visualization |
| Code in Claude Code | Superpowers, Claude Mem |
| Don't know where to start | Find Skills |
Maverick's tip
Skills stack. You can install as many as you want and Claude picks the right one for the job. Start with two or three, though, so you can tell what each one actually changes.
How to Install Any Skill
There are three ways to install a skill. Pick whichever fits the skill and your setup.
Option 1: Paste the link (fastest)
Open Claude Code, or the Code tab in the Claude desktop app, paste the skill's GitHub link and say:
Install this skill: [GITHUB LINK]
Claude reads the repo, pulls the skill files and installs them for you. The bigger ones (Marketing Skills, Superpowers, Arcads and the Picsart CLI) are built for Claude Code, so this is the way to go for those.
Option 2: Paste the install lines (Claude Code)
Some skills below come with exact install lines. Open your terminal, type claude to start Claude Code, then paste the lines one at a time. When it asks where to install, pick Install for you so the skill works in every project. New to Claude Code? Start with my Claude Code setup guide.
Option 3: Upload it in the Claude app (web or desktop)
- Turn on Settings > Capabilities > Code execution and file creation if it's off.
- On the skill's GitHub page, download the skill folder as a ZIP.
- Go to Customize > Skills, click +, choose Create skill, then Upload a skill, and pick the ZIP.
Skills you upload are private to your account, and Claude decides when to use each one based on what you ask.
Bonus: Find Skills (by Fockus)
The skill that finds you more skills. Tell Claude what you're building and it searches thousands of skills across more than a dozen sources, picks the right ones and installs them. If you don't know where to start, start here.

Writing and Marketing Skills
Blader Humanizer
The go-to skill for removing every trace of AI writing from your text. Built on Wikipedia's "Signs of AI writing" guide, it checks for 26 AI writing patterns, like inflated significance, sales language, dash overuse, forced groups of three and overused AI words, and rewrites your text to sound completely human. It has 60,000+ GitHub stars.
Best for: Creators, bloggers and marketers publishing anything AI-assisted under their own name.
/plugin marketplace add blader/humanizer /plugin install humanizer@humanizer
Using the Claude app instead? Download the repo as a ZIP and upload it under Customize > Skills. GitHub: github.com/blader/humanizer
Stop-Slop (by Hardik Pandya)
Forces Claude to strip out every AI giveaway while it writes: throat-clearing openers ("In today's world..."), emphasis crutches, filter phrases, binary contrasts, rule-of-three lists and AI words like "delve" and "tapestry."
Try it: Pair it with the Humanizer for two layers. Stop-Slop catches patterns while Claude writes, and the humanizer cleans up after. My humanizer guide has the prompts.

50+ free marketing skills for CRO, copywriting, SEO audits, ads, email sequences, pricing, analytics and growth. Each one reads your product context first, so every output fits your brand, audience and positioning. It's like hiring a whole marketing team that works inside Claude.
Try it: Run the SEO audit on your homepage first. You get a prioritized fix list that agencies often charge $2,000+ for.

A workspace for long-form blog posts built to rank. Describe your topic and keywords and Claude handles the research, writing and optimization, with keyword clustering, content gap analysis, internal link ideas and meta titles.

AI Sales Team (by Zubair Trabzada)
A sales team for Claude Code with 14 skills and 5 parallel agents. It researches prospects, qualifies leads with BANT and MEDDIC, finds decision makers, writes personalized email and LinkedIn outreach, preps your meetings, drafts proposals and builds PDF pipeline reports.

Entrepreneur Skills (by Matt Warren)
24 skills covering marketing, sales, operations, finance and leadership, built by a founder for founders. Each one turns a real task into a process Claude can finish end to end: business plans, financial projections, pitch decks, cold outreach, hiring scorecards and SOPs.

Design, Video and Image Skills
UI/UX Pro Max (by Next Level Builder)
The most complete design skill out there. It gives Claude a searchable design database with 79 UI styles, 192 color palettes, 74 font pairings, 119 UX guidelines and 25 chart types across 22 tech stacks (React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, Flutter, SwiftUI, React Native, Tailwind, shadcn/ui and more). Say "fintech dashboard" and its Design System Generator picks the style, colors and fonts for you.
Try it: Start every project by telling Claude the industry, let it build the design system, then point to that system in every prompt after.
/plugin marketplace add nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max-skill /plugin install ui-ux-pro-max@ui-ux-pro-max-skill
GitHub: github.com/nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max-skill
Frontend Design (official, by Anthropic)
Anthropic's own design skill. Before it writes any code, it grounds the design in your subject and audience and commits to a deliberate palette, typography and layout, so you skip the cookie-cutter "AI look" of rounded cards, default fonts and gradient washes.
Best for: Websites and interfaces that don't look AI-generated.
/plugin install frontend-design@claude-plugins-official
On a paid Claude plan you can also switch it on in the Claude app under Customize > Skills. GitHub: github.com/anthropics/claude-code/tree/main/plugins/frontend-design
Remotion Video (official, by Remotion)
Lets Claude build fully animated videos from a text prompt: product demos, social clips, explainers and motion graphics. It uses React under the hood, with the Remotion team's own rules for animation, audio, captions, charts and transitions, and exports MP4s.
Try it: Start small with a 10-second logo reveal or a text-based social clip, then scale up. More in my video editing guide.
Get it: github.com/remotion-dev/skills
Picsart GenAI CLI (by Picsart)
Gives Claude 140+ AI models for images (Flux, Recraft, Nano Banana, GPT Image), video (Veo, Kling, Runway, Seedance) and audio (ElevenLabs), plus editing tools like background removal and upscaling. You pay with credits from your Picsart account, and you can check any model's price before you generate.
Try it: It's also the base the other Picsart skills build on, like Headshot Studio. Full setup in my images and videos with Claude guide.
Get it: picsart.com/gen-ai-cli/
Arcads (by Kruse Media LLC)
Makes AI marketing videos and images through your Arcads account, powered by agents in Claude Code. It works with top video and image models like Seedance, Veo, Kling, Grok Video and Nano Banana, with skills for UGC video ads, YouTube thumbnails and AI influencer content. Needs a paid Arcads account.
Try it: Start with one UGC ad for your best-selling product. Upload a product photo as a style reference, give Claude the hook and the offer, then batch out variations once one works.
Get it: github.com/krusemediallc/arcads-claude-code
Frontend Slides (by Rui Zhang)
Builds animation-rich presentations as web pages, from a topic or outline, or by converting your existing PowerPoint files. You get a standalone HTML file you can host anywhere.
Try it: Give Claude a detailed outline with your key points and let it design the whole deck.
Get it: github.com/zarazhangrui/frontend-slides
Algorithmic Art (official, by Anthropic)
Creates generative art with p5.js: flow fields, particles, fractals and geometric patterns. Change the random seed and you get endless unique variations, exported as PNG, SVG or an interactive web page.
Try it: Ask for a piece in your brand colors with a mood ("organic and flowing"), then ask for 5 variations with different seeds.
Get it: github.com/anthropics/skills
Research and Data Skills
Scientific Agent Skills (by K-Dense)

D3.js Visualization (by Chris von Csefalvay)
Teaches Claude to make interactive charts with D3.js: line charts, bar charts, scatter plots and more, sharp at any size with custom colors, ready to embed in a website, deck or report.
Try it: Upload a CSV and say "visualize the trends with an interactive D3 chart." You get HTML you can drop into any website.
Get it: github.com/chrisvoncsefalvay/claude-d3js-skill
Obsidian Second Brain (by Eugeniu Ghelbur)
Turns your Obsidian vault into an AI-powered second brain with 31 commands. Claude runs your vault without you opening Obsidian, pulls web research into your notes, runs scheduled agents that update the vault while you sleep, and connects ideas across years of notes.
Try it: Set up a daily agent that scans news in your industry and adds summaries to your vault. Over time you get a knowledge base you can ask anything.
Get it: github.com/eugeniughelbur/obsidian-second-brain
Coding and Security Skills
These are for building software in Claude Code.
Superpowers (by Jesse Vincent)
The biggest community-built skill library in the Claude ecosystem, with 300,000+ GitHub stars. It runs the whole software process for you: brainstorming questions, planning, small tasks handed to fresh subagents with two-stage review, test-driven development and code review before merging.
Try it: Let it run the full workflow and don't skip the brainstorming or planning. It feels slower at first, but the code comes out much better.
Get it: github.com/obra/superpowers
TDD Guard
Enforces a strict Red-Green-Refactor cycle every time. When Claude tries to skip tests or over-build, TDD Guard blocks it and explains what needs to happen instead. Works with Vitest, Jest, pytest, PHPUnit, Go, Rust, RSpec and more.
/plugin marketplace add nizos/tdd-guard /plugin install tdd-guard@tdd-guard /tdd-guard:setup
Needs Node.js 22 or newer. Starting a brand-new project? The same developer also makes Probity, a newer version that also works with Codex and GitHub Copilot CLI. GitHub: github.com/nizos/tdd-guard
Playwright Skill (by Justin Lackey)
Lets Claude write and run browser tests on its own. It opens a real browser, clicks through your app, fills forms, takes screenshots and checks that everything works.
Try it: After building a feature, just say "test the checkout flow." It writes the test, runs it and tells you what broke.
Get it: github.com/lackeyjb/playwright-skill
OWASP Security
Gives Claude deep knowledge of the OWASP Top 10:2025, ASVS 5.0, the OWASP Top 10 for LLM apps and agentic AI security, plus security quirks for 20+ languages. Every time Claude writes or reviews code, it catches vulnerabilities before they ship. Install it globally to protect every project.
/plugin marketplace add agamm/claude-code-owasp /plugin install owasp-security@agamm
GitHub: github.com/agamm/claude-code-owasp
Trail of Bits Security (by Trail of Bits)
Security expertise from one of the most respected security firms in the world: static analysis, variant analysis to find similar bugs across your code, and security-focused code review with fixes.
Try it: Run it on your login and payment code first. Those are the highest-risk areas.
Get it: github.com/trailofbits/skills
iOS Simulator Skill (by Conor Luddy)
Lets Claude build, run and tap through iOS apps in the simulator and take screenshots, so it can see the code it wrote actually running.
Try it: After Claude writes a new screen, ask it to build and screenshot it. Layout bugs show up right away.
Get it: github.com/conorluddy/ios-simulator-skill
React Native Agent Skills (official, by Callstack)
The official React Native skills from Callstack, core contributors to React Native: native iOS and Android integration, bundling, app size and performance tuning.
Try it: Combine it with UI/UX Pro Max. One handles the design system, the other handles the React Native details.
Get it: github.com/callstackincubator/agent-skills
Memory and Productivity Skills
Claude Mem (by Alex Newman)
Claude Code forgets everything when a session ends. Claude Mem captures what happens while you work, compresses it and feeds the relevant context back in next time, so you stop re-explaining your project and preferences. It's free on your own plan, with an optional paid hosted memory.
/plugin marketplace add thedotmack/claude-mem /plugin install claude-mem
Restart Claude Code after installing. Context from your earlier sessions shows up automatically. GitHub: github.com/thedotmack/claude-mem
Context Engineering Kit (by NeoLab HQ)
The longer a task runs, the easier it is for Claude to drift. This kit is a set of small, token-light plugins that keep it sharp: Reflexion reviews and improves its own answers, Spec-Driven Development plans before it builds, and Subagent-Driven Development splits big jobs across helper agents.
/plugin marketplace add NeoLabHQ/context-engineering-kit /plugin install reflexion@NeoLabHQ/context-engineering-kit
Start with Reflexion, then add others from the same marketplace by swapping in their names. GitHub: github.com/NeoLabHQ/context-engineering-kit
Caveman Mode (by Julius Brussee)
Makes Claude answer in ultra-compressed language, cutting a big chunk of output tokens while keeping the technical accuracy (its own example takes a 63-token answer down to 20). Pair it with the Context Engineering Kit to save even more.
Get it: github.com/juliusbrussee/caveman
Task Observer (by Eoghan Henn / Rebelytics)
Makes all your other skills better. It notices your corrections and the jobs you keep doing by hand, then suggests updates or new skills to build. You decide which changes go in.
Get it: github.com/rebelytics/one-skill-to-rule-them-all
Common Mistakes and Quick Fixes
| If this happens | Try this |
|---|---|
| The install line says "command not found" | You're in your normal terminal. Type claude to start Claude Code first, then paste the lines. Scientific Agent Skills is the one that runs in the normal terminal. |
| Claude doesn't seem to use the skill | Ask for the job by name, like "use the humanizer skill on this." In the Claude app, check it's switched on in Customize > Skills. |
| The upload fails in the Claude app | Turn on Settings > Capabilities > Code execution and file creation, and upload the skill folder as a ZIP. |
| The skill works in one project but not another | Reinstall it and pick Install for you so it works everywhere. |
| You don't have Claude Code | It comes with Pro and up. On Free, use Option 3 and upload the simpler skills in the app. |
| You hit your usage limit faster than before | Remove skills you don't use, and add Caveman Mode or the Context Engineering Kit to save tokens. |
| Claude Mem isn't remembering anything | Restart Claude Code after installing it. |
| TDD Guard won't install | It needs Node.js 22 or newer. |
| Arcads or Picsart asks for credits | The skills are free, but generations use credits from your Arcads or Picsart account. |
| You installed ten at once and can't tell what changed | Remove most of them. Start with two or three, use them on real tasks, then add more. |
