Somewhere out there, people are living completely different lives under your exact name. This is a genuinely fun rabbit hole: have ChatGPT tell you how rare your name is, the famous people who've shared it through history, and where you rank among everyone who has it today. Three prompts, about two minutes.

A Fun One To Start

Your name is more interesting than you think. Depending on it, you could be one of thousands sharing it, or the only person on Earth who has it. And somewhere, there's probably a doctor, a criminal, and a retiree all walking around as "you." Let's go find them.

Three prompts, in one chat. Open ChatGPT, choose Work at the top so it can search the web, and have your full name ready. That's the whole setup.

Prompt 1: How Rare Are You?

Start by finding out just how common, or how one-of-a-kind, your name really is.

How many people in the world have my exact first
and last name, and where do most of them live?
Break down how rare my name actually is.
My name is [FULL NAME].

What happens next: ChatGPT estimates how many of you there are and maps where your name clusters, which countries, which regions. Some people find out they're one in thousands. Others find out they may be the only one alive with their name, which is a wild thing to learn about yourself.

Prompt 2: Your Famous Namesakes

Now for the history. Stay in the same chat and find out who's carried your name before you, and what they did with it.

Now tell me about the most interesting people in
history who've had my exact name. The famous ones,
the infamous ones, and the ones nobody remembers
but should. For each, tell me who they were, when
they lived, and what they're known for.

What happens next: You get a short history of everyone notable who has worn your name, which is usually a stranger list than you expect. Scientists, criminals, athletes, minor royalty from four hundred years ago.

Prompt 3: Where Do You Rank?

The coolest part. Have ChatGPT search the web and build a leaderboard of the people alive today who share your name, then tell you where you land. In ChatGPT, type @ and choose browser first (or just tell it to use its browser).

What happens next: A ranked list of your competition, and a slightly humbling answer about where you sit on it.

Meaning and origin. What's the meaning and origin of my first name and my surname, what language and era they come from, and how the name has traveled over time?

The name profile. Based on my name alone, what would people guess about my age, generation, and background, and how accurate is that for me?

Name twin story. Pick the one living person who shares my name whose life is most different from mine, and tell me about them like a short story.

Own your name. If I wanted to become the most well-known [my name] online, what would it realistically take, and what's one thing I could start this month?
