Your first goal:
Get one finished file out of Claude and clean up your memory.

Start with the model
Do Feature 5 first. Once you're on Opus 5.5, everything else in this guide gets better answers.
Maverick's tip
You don't have to set these up in order. If you only care about one, jump straight to it.
Copy This First: Try All Five in One Chat
Once you're on Opus 5.5 (see Feature 5), paste this into a new chat. Claude will pick the right features and walk you through them.
I just found out you have new features: documents and slides, a browser, editable memory, incognito chats and Opus 5.5. Help me actually use them on my real life. First, ask me 3 quick questions about my work and what I need to get done this week. Then make me one finished document or slide deck I can actually use, tell me one task you could do for me in the browser, and tell me what you currently remember about me so I can fix anything that's wrong.
Feature 1: Real Documents and Slides
Claude can now build real documents and slide decks. Ask for a report or a full presentation and it hands you the actual finished file, formatted and ready to send, not a wall of text.
How to use it
- Just ask for it in any chat. You can also open the Artifacts tab in the sidebar and pick Docs or Slides.
- Claude builds the file. Ask for changes the same way you'd ask a person: "make slide 3 shorter," "add a summary at the top."
- Download it. Slides can be exported to PowerPoint or PDF.
It's on every plan, including Free. If it doesn't work, turn on Settings > Capabilities > Code execution and file creation.
Make me a [NUMBER]-slide presentation about [TOPIC] for [WHO IT'S FOR]. Keep each slide short, use one big idea per slide, and end with a clear next step. Here's what it needs to cover: [YOUR NOTES OR PASTE YOUR DOCUMENT].
Maverick's tip
Upload your messy notes, a transcript or an old document and say "turn this into a clean report." That's where this saves the most time.
Feature 2: Claude's Own Browser
Claude can now open websites and do whole tasks on them by itself, filling things out and getting things done while you watch.
How to set it up
- Install Claude in Chrome from the Chrome Web Store and sign in with your Claude account.
- Pin it to your toolbar, then open it on any website.
- Tell it what to do. Claude asks for permission before it takes actions on a site.
Claude in Chrome is in beta on paid plans.
Go to [WEBSITE] and [THE TASK, E.G. FIND THE CHEAPEST FLIGHT FROM NEW YORK TO MIAMI ON MARCH 12, OR FILL OUT THIS CONTACT FORM WITH MY DETAILS]. Show me what you're doing as you go, and stop and ask me before you submit, buy or send anything.
Heads up: Stay with it the first few times, and don't let it log into anything important or pay for anything without checking with you first.
Feature 3: Memory You Can Edit
Claude remembers you across your chats, and now you can open it up, see every topic it's tracking about you, and change or delete anything.
How to see and edit it
- Go to Settings > Memory.
- Look under Topics. That's everything Claude remembers about you.
- Edit or delete anything that's wrong or that you don't want it to keep.
Memory is on by default on Free, Pro and Max. Sensitive topics like health stay out of memory unless you turn on Include sensitive topics in memory.
Tell me everything you remember about me, grouped by topic. Flag anything that looks out of date, wrong or too personal, and tell me what you'd suggest I change or delete in Settings > Memory.
Teach it something on purpose
Remember this about me for future chats: [WHAT YOU WANT IT TO KNOW, E.G. I RUN A SMALL BAKERY, I WRITE IN A CASUAL TONE, I NEVER WANT LONG ANSWERS].
Maverick's tip
Coming from ChatGPT? Go to Settings > Memory > Start import to bring your memory over.
Feature 4: Incognito Chats
Incognito chats leave no trace. They don't show up in your chat history and they don't use or add to your memory. When you're done, it's gone.
How to use it
- Start a new chat.
- Click the ghost icon at the top right.
- Chat like normal. Close it when you're done.
Incognito chats can't create files or run code, so use a normal chat for Feature 1.
This is just between us, so don't hold back. Here's something I've been thinking about: [WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND]. Help me think it through honestly and tell me what you'd do in my position.
Maverick's tip
Use incognito when you're asking about something private, testing a prompt, or helping someone else with their stuff, so it doesn't mess up what Claude remembers about you.
Feature 5: Opus 5.5
Opus 5.5 is Claude's newest top model. You get flagship-level answers for less, which means everything you just saw got smarter overnight.
How to switch to it
- Click the model picker in the chat box.
- Choose Opus 5.5.
- For hard problems, set the effort higher (up to Max). For quick questions, a lower setting is faster.
Opus 5.5 is on paid plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise). On Free, you'll use Claude's other models.
I'm going to give you a hard problem, so take your time and think it through properly. [YOUR PROBLEM, E.G. HELP ME DECIDE WHETHER TO RAISE MY PRICES, OR PLAN MY NEXT 90 DAYS AT WORK]. Ask me any questions you need first, then give me a clear answer and the reasoning behind it.
Common Mistakes and Quick Fixes
| If this happens | Try this |
|---|---|
| Claude writes text instead of making a file | Say "make this as a document I can download," and check Settings > Capabilities > Code execution and file creation. |
| You can't find Opus 5.5 | It's on paid plans. Click the model picker, or look under More models. |
| The browser won't do anything | Make sure Claude in Chrome is installed, signed in and opened on the website. |
| Claude remembers something wrong | Fix or delete it in Settings > Memory. |
| You don't see memory | Team and Enterprise have it off by default. Ask your admin. |
| Incognito won't make a file | That's normal. Use a normal chat for documents and slides. |
| Answers feel slow on Max effort | Lower the effort for simple questions. Save Max for hard ones. |
