Claude has been paying attention to everything you have ever typed. Every question, every late-night project, every random thought you dumped into a chat. It is not mind reading, but it is pattern matching on a lot of you.
The plan · 3 steps
- 1The Reveal
- 2Two Futures
- 3The Morning Paragraph
These prompts make Claude read that history back to you with the honesty setting turned up. The patterns you do not see. The two versions of your next five years. And the one paragraph you should read every morning.
The 60-Second Setup
Before the prompts work, Claude needs permission to actually look.
- Open Claude and go to Settings, then Memory.
- Turn on both toggles: Search and reference chats and Generate memory from chats. (On some accounts these live under Capabilities.)
- That is it. Now Claude can pull from your history instead of guessing from one chat.
Make-or-break: These prompts feed on history. If you have barely used Claude, the answers will be thin, and searching across past chats is a paid-plan feature. On the free plan Claude still works from the memory it has built of you, it just has less to dig through. The more you have talked to it, the scarier good this gets.
Tip: You can see and edit what Claude remembers about you in Settings, Memory. Worth a look before you start. It is the raw material for everything in this guide.
The Reveal
This is the prompt that freaks people out. You are asking Claude for the things it worked out on its own, not the things you directly told it. Open a fresh chat and paste:
Based on every conversation we have ever had, tell me five things you figured out about me that I have never directly told you. And do not hold back to make me feel good.
Claude will return five observations. Some will feel obvious in hindsight. Some will feel like someone read your diary. That is the point.
Two Futures
Same chat. Now turn the mirror forward:
Predict my next five years if nothing changes. Then predict them again if I fix the one pattern that is holding me back the most.
The first future is your current trajectory. The second future is what happens if you act on what The Reveal just surfaced. The gap between them is usually uncomfortable and useful.
The Morning Paragraph
Still in the same chat:
Now write one paragraph I should read every single morning, based on everything you told me.
Claude condenses the whole conversation, your patterns, your two futures, the thing you need to hear, into one paragraph written specifically for you. Nobody else would get this paragraph.
What to do with it: Screenshot it. Make it your lock screen, pin it in your notes, tape it to the mirror. Then re-run this whole sequence in a month. If the paragraph comes back different, that is progress you can read.
Tip: If the paragraph feels too soft, say "rewrite it like a coach who knows me and is not worried about my feelings." If it stings too much, say "same message, kinder voice." It is your paragraph, tune it.
6 Bonus Prompts To Go Deeper
All of these work best in the same chat, after the first three.
The Blind Spot
What is one thing about me that seems obvious to you but that I clearly cannot see?
The Undervalued Strength
What am I actually good at that I keep downplaying or ignoring?
The Ignored Advice
What advice have I asked for more than once and then clearly not taken? Why do you think that is?
The Energy Map
Based on how I write, what topics give me energy and what topics drain me? What does that suggest about how I should spend my time?
The Wrong Question
What question do I keep asking you that you think is the wrong question? What should I be asking instead?
The Monthly Check-In
Compare me now to our conversations from a few months ago. What has changed, what has not, and what does that tell you?
How To Get Honest Answers (And Take Them Well)
Give it permission to be blunt. Claude defaults to encouraging. Every prompt here works better with a permission line: "do not hold back," "do not soften it," "tell me what a good friend would not say to my face." You have to open the door, it will not kick it down.
One chat, one sitting. Run the three core prompts back to back in the same conversation. Each answer becomes context for the next, and the morning paragraph at the end is only as good as everything above it.
Argue back. If one of the five things feels wrong, say so and ask for the evidence. Sometimes Claude updates, sometimes it holds its ground and shows you the receipts. Both are useful, and pushing back is how you find out which one you are dealing with.
A mirror, not a verdict. Everything Claude tells you is pattern-matching on what you have typed. It only knows the version of you that shows up in a chat window. It can be sharp and still be wrong. Take what is useful, test it against people who actually know you, and leave the rest.
Heads up: If something in these answers hits a nerve, that is normal. These prompts are designed to be honest. But Claude is a chatbot, not a therapist or a diagnosis. If it surfaces something heavy, take it as a signal to talk to someone you trust, and be kind to yourself about it.
