ChatGPT Can Now Fight Your Bills
A family recently used AI to get a $195,000 hospital bill down to about $33,000. The hospital had billed the same procedures twice and used the wrong codes, and nobody would have caught it if they hadn't had AI go through it line by line.
You're probably overpaying somewhere too. A price hike nobody told you about, a promo that quietly ran out, a late fee you could get waived, a charge for something you already cancelled, a mistake on a medical bill. Companies count on you never pushing back.
Now ChatGPT can fight them for you. It interviews you about every bill you pay, finds every place you're getting overcharged and writes the emails to fight each one, right from your Gmail.
Step 1: Open ChatGPT and paste this in. If Gmail isn't connected yet, it'll ask you to connect it.
Interview me about every bill I pay: rent or mortgage, utilities, phone, internet, insurance, subscriptions, credit cards, and medical and dental bills. @Gmail Search my email for bills, receipts and statements from the last 6 months to fill in anything I don't remember. Then find every place I'm paying more than I should: price increases, expired promos, fees I could get waived, charges for things I cancelled or never used, billing mistakes, and anything above what new customers pay. Put it in a table ranked by how much I could get back, with what's wrong and exactly what I should ask for. |
That table is the wake-up call. It's usually way more money than you'd guess. And if a medical bill is on there, ask the provider for the itemized bill with the procedure codes first, because that's where the mistakes hide.
Step 2: Stay in the same chat and send it to fight:
Now fight every bill in that table. @Gmail Write a separate email to each company, written for my account, explaining exactly what's wrong, what I'm asking for (a refund, a credit, a waived fee or a lower rate) and when I need an answer by. Keep each one short, polite and firm. Show me every email and wait for my OK before you send anything. |
Step 3: When the replies come in, go back to the same chat:
@Gmail Check for replies to those emails. For each one, tell me what they offered and whether I should take it, then write my reply. If they said no, write a firmer second email or tell me who to escalate to. |
You approve every single email before it goes out, so nothing gets sent without you. Not every company will say yes, but you lose nothing by asking, and the ones that say yes keep paying you back every month.
One honest note. Connecting Gmail isn't available on every plan or in every country yet. If you don't have it, just upload your last few statements instead and ChatGPT writes the emails for you to copy and send yourself.

Claude Can Now Edit Your Videos for You
Claude can now edit your videos for you. Give it a clip of you talking and it adds captions, cuts out every silence and animates the key moments on screen. Then you just tell it what to change.
I made a free Video Editor plugin that turns Claude into your own editor. A plugin is basically a free add-on that teaches Claude a new skill. You install it once, it takes about a minute, and here's exactly how.
Step 1: Download the free Claude desktop app at claude.com/download and sign in. This only works in the desktop app on a Mac or Windows computer, not on the website or your phone, and you need Claude Pro ($20 a month) or higher.
Step 2: In the app, click Customize in the left sidebar, then click Plugins.
Step 3: Click Add, then Add marketplace, then Add from a repository. Paste this address and confirm:
https://github.com/maverickmaltin/mavgpt-plugins |
Step 4: Find Video Editor in the list and add it. That's the whole install, and you only ever do it once.
Step 5: Make a folder on your desktop called Video Edits and drop your video in it. Back in Claude, click Code at the top, choose Local, click Select folder and pick Video Edits. Then choose Opus 5.5 in the model menu and set the effort to Max.
Step 6: Type /video-editor:start and hit enter.
Claude takes it from there. It installs the free tools it needs, asks you a few quick questions about your style (caption size, colors, how tight the cuts should be) and saves your answers, so every video comes out looking like yours. Then it shows you a storyboard of the whole edit, renders a preview, checks its own frames for mistakes and hands it over.
And the best part is that you change things in plain words. "Make the captions bigger." "Zoom in when I say insane." "Put back the part about pricing." When you like a change, say "add that to my style" and it remembers it for every video after that.
A few tips. Start with a 30 to 90 second clip for your first edit, and only use music you have the rights to. If /video-editor:start doesn't do anything, start a new session in the Code tab so the plugin loads. And Claude never posts anything for you, so you always watch it and post it yourself.

5 Secret ChatGPT Codes That Make You a Power User
Here are five secret codes for ChatGPT that completely change the answers it gives you. Each one is a single word you type, and they turn ChatGPT into something way more useful.
1. /bodyguard. Paste in anything sketchy, like a link, a contract or a text from a number you don't know, and ChatGPT tells you whether you're about to get played and all the red flags.
2. /flip. Upload a photo of anything you own and ChatGPT tells you what it resells for right now and exactly how to sell it.
3. SHOWME. Add this to any question and instead of a wall of text, ChatGPT turns the answer into a visual: a chart, a diagram, something your brain actually keeps.
4. /interview. Paste in a job you're going for and ChatGPT grills you like the actual hiring manager, question after question, until you're genuinely ready.
5. TRIPLECHECK. Put this at the end of anything important and ChatGPT re-verifies its own answer three different ways before it gives it to you, so you catch the mistakes before they catch you.
Just type the code and paste in your thing. Try /bodyguard on the next "too good to be true" text you get.

🚨 AI UPDATE
Anthropic Just Lost $80 Billion in Six Months
Anthropic, the company behind Claude, just lost $80 billion in six months. That's from its draft paperwork to go public, which the Wall Street Journal got its hands on this week. In the same six months last year, it lost $13 billion. And on one of the big prediction markets, where people bet real money on what happens next, traders now give about a 1 in 4 chance that Anthropic announces bankruptcy by the end of 2029 (and 9% by the end of next year).
But here's the part most headlines are skipping. About $72 billion of that loss isn't money Anthropic actually spent. It's an accounting charge. A lot of the money Anthropic raised came in as convertible notes, which are basically loans that turn into shares later. Anthropic's value has shot up so much that those notes are now worth way more on paper, and the accounting rules count that as a loss. So a big chunk of this "loss" comes from the company becoming more valuable.
The real business is growing like crazy: $16.3 billion in revenue in six months, up from $1.1 billion a year earlier. But it's also spending nearly $9 billion on computing power in that time, has signed more than $600 billion in computing deals, and is reportedly aiming to go public as soon as November at a valuation of up to $2 trillion.
Here's my take. Everyone says Apple, Google and Meta are falling behind in AI, and I really don't think they are. I think they're sitting back and watching. OpenAI and Anthropic are spending way more than they make to win this race, and the big companies don't have to win it to come out on top. Look at where Anthropic's money actually goes: about $111 billion of those computing deals go to Google, $110 billion to Amazon and $31 billion to Microsoft. So every time Anthropic loses money building the next Claude, a big chunk of it lands in their pockets. And because search ads, iPhones and Instagram already make them a fortune, they can afford to wait, see what actually works, and then put it in front of the billions of people who already use their stuff.
So Claude isn't going anywhere anytime soon, but don't get stuck on any one tool either. Make sure your AI file system is set up properly and learn how to use AI agents, so you can keep moving and switch in an afternoon if you ever need to.

Run the bill interview this week, even if you only fight one charge. And if you edit a video with the plugin, reply and tell me how your first edit came out.
See you Sunday.
