OpenAI just put out GPT-6 Astra, the most powerful AI model on the planet, and I'm walking you through what it can do and the insane stuff people are already building with it, then showing you how I got Claude to upgrade my flight to first class, and finishing with five ChatGPT codes that turn a photo of anything you're trying to learn into something your brain will actually hold onto.

OpenAI Just Dropped the Most Powerful AI Model on the Planet
On Wednesday I told you OpenAI had a powerful model sitting on a shelf that they were nervous about releasing. On Thursday they actually decided to release it. It's called GPT-6 Astra, it's way better than anyone imagined, and it is now by far the most powerful publicly available AI model on the entire planet.
The main headline here is the benchmarks. Astra scored 99.9% on the ARC-AGI-3 exam, which is a test built to measure how close an AI is to thinking the way a human does, puzzles it has never seen before that it has to work out on the spot, the same way you would. Six months ago OpenAI's best model scored under 8% on it. This isn't a step up from the last model, it's a completely different league, and it's the closest anything has ever come to a machine that can reason through a brand new problem like a person. I think we're basically there.
The feature everyone is freaking out about though is the computer use. Instead of writing you instructions, it opens the apps and does the thing. It fills in forms, moves through spreadsheets, clicks around websites and works inside real software, about twice as fast as before, and it makes far better calls when you give it a vague instruction, which if you're anything like me is most of the time. You can hand it real tasks now, so if you tried computer use before and thought it was clunky, it's worth giving it another go.
Some of the stuff people are building on it has been absolutely insane. Someone on X had it build an entire 3D house render in Blender, kitchen, furniture, glass walls, all of it. In the photo above it's Fable 5.1 on one side and Astra on the other, and look at the difference. Noticeably more detail, and it looks unbelievably good. This is the kind of thing that would take a 3D artist weeks to put together, done in one go.
Now the part people aren't talking about a lot. It is definitely expensive, the fast version costs double the normal one, and on Plus you only get a limited amount of it before it asks you to buy more. It also isn't on the free plan at all, this is Plus and up only, and it's rolling out over a few days, so don't panic if it isn't there yet. On Plus it doesn't show up in your normal chat, you get it by switching from Chat to Work in the top left. I expect all of this to get cheaper and better as the competition heats up, and I'd be surprised if Anthropic doesn't come back with something of their own in the next few weeks.

Claude Can Now Upgrade Your Flight to First Class
Yes, you read that right. This is one of the coolest use cases I've come across with AI, and I tried it on my flight next month and it actually worked. You can have Claude upgrade you to first class, and the success rate on this is insane, because it goes through your miles, your card perks, your status, all the things you probably don't even know you have, and puts together a full upgrade case for you before going off to the airline's website to actually get the seat.
Step 1: Open Claude and paste this in. Answer its questions as fully as you can.

I'm flying [AIRLINE], confirmation code [CODE], on [DATE] from [CITY] to [CITY], and I want to upgrade this exact flight to first or business class. You can't see my booking, so work from what I tell you.
First interview me. Ask every question you need about my credit cards, the miles and points I have, my elite status, and what I paid for this ticket, all at once. Then map out every upgrade currency I own that could touch this flight, miles, certificates, bank points, card perks, cash offers and upgrade bidding, and build me an interactive artifact called My Upgrade Power Dashboard, one card per currency with what it would cost, how likely it is to work, and the single move you'd make first.

It asks you everything in one go and comes back with a dashboard, one card per thing you own, what each would cost you for this flight and how likely it is to work. Mine found a card perk I've been paying an annual fee for and never used. Do the whole interview, and don't paste card numbers in, it doesn't need them.
Step 2: Install Claude in Chrome from the Chrome Web Store, then in Claude choose Customize on the left, then Connectors, and switch on Claude in Chrome. Back in your chat, hit the plus by the message box and turn it on there too, that's the step everyone misses.
Step 3: Log into your airline in a Chrome tab, then come back to the same chat and paste this in.

Go to [AIRLINE]'s website in Chrome, I'm already logged in. Open my booking with confirmation code [CODE] and check the first class cabin on my flight: how many seats are left, what the upgrade costs in cash and in miles, and whether there's a bid option.
Compare that to my Upgrade Power Dashboard and take the best path. Use my miles if the value is right, place the bid at the smartest number that's likely to win without overpaying, or get me on the upgrade list as high as possible. Before you confirm anything that costs money or miles, pause and show me exactly what you're about to click.

And then you just watch. Claude opens the airline site in your own browser, pulls up your booking, checks what's left in first class and what they're asking, and works out whether your miles are worth spending or whether a bid is the smarter play. It takes you to the final confirmation screen and stops, because it won't spend your money or your miles without you pressing the button. It's kind of unreal watching it physically chase the seat while you sit there with a coffee.

5 ChatGPT Codes That Make Anything Stick
If you're a student in school right now, or you've got a kid who is, you're going to want to use this one. The way most of us study is read the wall of text, forget it, read it again. So here are five codes that turn a photo of whatever you're working from into the version your brain actually holds onto. Upload a photo of the page to ChatGPT, type the code, hit enter. That's the whole setup.
1. /generatehandwrittenimage
This takes whatever you upload and hands you back a full page of handwritten notes, underlined headings, arrows, the lot, and something about seeing it written by hand makes it stick in a way the printed version doesn't. Also very useful the next time you've been told to write something out by hand and would rather not.
2. /visualizelearning
Paste in any concept and this turns it into a visual diagram, so instead of rereading four paragraphs on how something works you're looking at one picture of it. Brilliant for anything with a process in it, a mortgage, a vaccine, the offside rule.
3. /makestickynotes
This is going to take an entire chapter of a textbook and bring you back a wall of short sticky notes, only the things that would actually be on the test and nothing else.
4. /flashcards
This one is my favorite. Upload anything and it doesn't give you a list of questions, it builds you an actual little flashcard app right there in the chat, cards you tap to flip, and it tracks which ones you keep missing so you can run just those again.
5. /examme
This builds a practice test out of everything you're studying and quizzes you like the real thing, one question at a time, then grades you at the end with the ones you got wrong laid out. Run it until you pass it.
Quick heads up on the first three. They come back as images, so every so often it misspells a word, and on the free plan you only get a few a day. There are 95 more in the guide.
