Happy Sunday,
Big one today. I'm showing you how to get ChatGPT to build your family tree and surface relatives you never knew existed, breaking down which AI actually builds the best websites (the results surprised me), walking you through getting AI to sell your old junk for you, and explaining the new Chinese model that just shook up the entire AI race.
Let's get into it.

🤯 THIS IS WILD
ChatGPT Can Find Relatives You Never Knew Existed
This might be one of the coolest prompt chains I've shared in a while. You can now get ChatGPT to build your entire family tree and then go dig through public records to find relatives you had no idea existed. Here's the exact chain, run these one after another in the same chat.
First, open up ChatGPT Work. At the top of the app you'll see a Work toggle, make sure it's switched on or these prompts won't work.
Step 1: Paste this in.
|
I want to build my full family tree. Ask me everything you need to know first: my full name, my parents' and grandparents' names, where my family is from, important dates, and every relative I can remember. Once you have it all, organize it into one clean, clear family tree.
|
Step 2: Once you've got your family tree, stay in the same chat and say:
|
Now, based on my last name and where my family came from, tell me the history and origins of my family name and roughly how far back that surname can be traced.
|
Step 3 (IMPORTANT): Click on the model selector, choose Effort, and drag the slider all the way to the right to Max (see above). Then run:
|
Now dig through publicly available sources only (public records, obituaries, cemetery and genealogy sites, news archives) to find people likely connected to my family that I haven't already listed. For every person, show me the source link and how confident you are, and treat anything unconfirmed as a lead for me to verify, not a fact. Work for as long as you need and dig as deep as you possibly can.
|
Step 4: Finish it off with:
|
Now build me an interactive visual family tree I can click around, showing everyone we've confirmed plus the likely connections, and how each person relates to me.
|
Want all four of these loaded straight into ChatGPT so you can just fire them off one by one? Click here and all four will drop right into your chat.
ChatGPT will then go off and work for upwards of an hour, and hand you back your entire tree as an interactive map you can click around. It found family members I had no idea existed.
One honest heads up before you go down the rabbit hole. AI can't get into the paid ancestry sites, and it can occasionally connect the wrong people, so treat what it finds as leads to check, not gospel. Even with that, what it surfaces from public records alone is honestly shocking.

🏆 AI SHOWDOWN
Which AI Actually Builds the Best Websites?
All credit to RPN (Roberto Nickson) for this one.
Another AI creator ran a really cool experiment this week that I thought I had to share. He gave the top AI models the exact same website briefs, had them each build the sites, then judged them blind on how good they actually turned out. I'll keep it simple and give you the part that actually matters.
ChatGPT's newest model came in first. Claude was a close second and basically tied, losing by just three points, and then Grok, Gemini, and Meta's model were all bunched up behind them. What I find fascinating is how close it all was. The gap between the best and the rest is shrinking fast.
But it truly is wild that ChatGPT came in first here. It's been quietly counted out in the AI world lately for its design and taste, so this new update clearly fixed something. I'm sure a big part of it is that ChatGPT has the best image generator of the bunch, so it can mock up genuinely good visuals, and it turns out that same eye carries over to building a good looking website. The creator who ran this believes these models are already around 65 to 70% of the way to a world-class human web designer, and you can get a great looking site for a few dollars of credits in a few minutes. There's basically no excuse for an ugly website anymore.
If you want to try it, come over to the ChatGPT desktop app. In the chat box, type @sites, and then paste the prompt below. That @sites feature is the fun part, ChatGPT can now build, publish, and actually host your website for you, live, right inside ChatGPT. No sending code off to a developer, no wrestling with Shopify or WordPress, not even a builder like Lovable. For a simple site, you genuinely don't need anything else anymore. Paste this in and run it on your own site.
|
@sites You are an award-winning product designer and creative director. Analyze the website below and redesign it to feel world-class. Don't change what the company does, only improve how it's communicated. Improve the visual hierarchy, typography, spacing, copy, layout, color palette, interactions, and overall user experience. Remove anything unnecessary. Make it feel premium, modern, and memorable.

💰 TRY THIS
Get AI to Sell Your Old Stuff For You
We've all got a pile of stuff sitting in a closet or garage that we keep meaning to sell and never do. Well, AI will now do the whole annoying part for you. It can look at your stuff, figure out what each thing is actually worth, write listings that sell, and then go post them for you while you sit back. Take a few photos of everything you want gone, then run this.
Step 1: Upload your photos and paste this in.
|
Look at each of these items and tell me exactly what each one is, what it's worth right now, and a realistic price I could actually sell it for. Use current market data.
|
Step 2: Stay in the same chat and say:
|
Now write me the perfect listing for each item: a title that sells, a full description, and the exact price to post it at.
|
Step 3: This one needs an AI that can use a web browser.
In ChatGPT: open the desktop app, switch to Work, and type @browser.
In Claude: use Cowork or Code with the Chrome extension connected. Not sure how to connect it? It's in this guide.
Then run:
|
Open your browser and create these listings on Facebook Marketplace for me, using the photos and descriptions you just wrote. Use the photos I gave you plus good photos of each product from the internet as the listing images. If I'm not already logged in, I'll log in for you. Don't publish or send anything until I've approved it.
|
Quick heads up, Facebook makes bots jump through hoops, so it may ask you to log in or approve a step along the way. But it does all the heavy lifting while you basically just watch. Your closet is about to make you money.
Want all three of these loaded straight into ChatGPT so you don't have to copy them one by one? Click here and they'll drop right in.
🚨 AI UPDATE
China Just Shook Up the AI Race
Okay, this one's pretty wild. So a Chinese company called Moonshot AI just quietly dropped a new model called Kimi K3, and it caught pretty much everyone off guard. I won't bore you with the technical details, but all you really need to know is that this is one of the best AI models on the entire planet. It goes toe to toe with the newest models from OpenAI and Anthropic on real-world tests, and here's the kicker, it's open source.
Open source basically means they gave the actual model away for free, so anyone in the world can download it, run it, and build their own tools on top of it without paying a cent. Most of the big US models are locked up and rented out by the month. This one is just out in the open for everyone.
Here's my honest takeaway on why I shared this and why I think it matters. For the longest time the story was that the US was miles ahead in AI. Unfortunately, that's just not true anymore. China has been consistently releasing new models that are just as good as the American ones, that are open source, cost far less, and that anyone can build on top of. Part of the reason they're catching up is that I think we've quietly hit a bit of a ceiling. The gap between these models has gotten tiny, everyone is clustered within a few points of each other, so telling which one is "the best" barely means anything anymore.
And that's the part worth paying attention to. When every model is basically as smart as the next, the winner isn't whoever builds the smartest one, it's whoever makes AI the cheapest and gets it into the most hands. Right now open source is winning that race. Here's the deeper thing most people miss though. The real moat was never the model, it's the compute, the energy, and the pipes that deliver it. That's the fight that actually decides this. Open source is honestly a great thing for the world, it puts a lot more power into a lot more hands. However, companies like OpenAI and Anthropic keep their very best models locked up, partly to fund their frontier research, and partly because once a model is out in the open, you can't recall it if someone starts using it to do real harm. So it's not as simple as open good, closed bad. But either way, it does mean nobody gets to coast on being "ahead" anymore, because that lead has basically evaporated. It's going to be a wild couple of years to watch, and like always, all this competition just means better and cheaper tools for the rest of us.
Go run that family tree chain tonight, even just the first two prompts are going to surprise you. And if you've got a closet full of stuff, let AI go sell it while you sit back.
See you Wednesday.
